There is a lot to be said about the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and a brief synopsis would not do it justice. To truly find out more, it is recommended that you read the information found on their web site, www.adventist.org (or click the square icon at the bottom of this page), and in articles they have published. There are also some places in the "Links" section you may visit, although they may not be endorsed by the Adventist Church.
In short, the Adventist Church has a goal to spread the love of Christ to others, and to carry out His mission as said in the Holy Bible. The Adventist Church is heavily involved in world relief efforts through its organization, ADRA, and also is involved in the provision of healthcare with hospitals all over the world including Loma Linda in California and Washington Adventist Hospital in the Washington DC area.
The Adventist Church is distinctly known for two characteristics that are often different from other denominations; the emphasis on health, and worshiping on the seventh day, Saturday, as Sabbath. This however, is not all that Adventists are about. There are also many misconceptions about the Adventist church that are probably discussed in other articles on this denomination.
"The name Seventh-day Adventist includes vital beliefs for us as a Church. 'Adventist' reflects our passionate conviction in the nearness of the soon return ('advent') of Jesus. 'Seventh-day' refers to the Biblical Sabbath which from Creation has always been the seventh day of the week, or Saturday."
