About Pathfinders

Pathfinders was started by members of the Adventist church. Like any organization, it has had more than just one founder or influential person that helped it become what it is today. It is now a community of people, youth and adults alike, of many races and backgrounds, who come together and learn more about God and life in general in a fun, vibrant and active environment.

Pathfinders is often compared to Boy Scouts, and is similar in many ways (although Pathfinders is a club for both boys and girls).  Pathfinders earn badges or patches for going through "Honors" courses in things like Horseback riding or basketball, to drawing and Basket Weaving, auto mechanics, trees, marine Mammals, Decoupage, and so on.

They also complete a class, called AY Classes (AY standing for Adventist Youth) that takes them the whole year. These are named Friend, Companion, Explorer and so on. These courses are made for specific ages groups, and teaches them things about the Bible, about dealing with friends and other people, about taking care of themselves, about helping others, and learning new things.

One major activity that is a core part of being a Pathfinder is serving God and others, through participating in church, or community service and such. Cleaning streets, and singing and ministering to people in children's hospitals or nursing homes, and homeless and canned food drives are common things Pathfinders do. Pathfinders also gets the youth involved in nature, and they often go on hikes and camping trips.

All in all, Pathfinders learn how to be well rounded individuals, with many practical skills, as well as growing in character, and most importantly, growing in Christ.

No matter who you are, no matter what your religion is, or even if you don't have one, there are so many things to being a Pathfinder that you will end up becoming a better person, to benefit both yourself and others. It is also a great way to have good fun, and meet new people.

Below are some of the standards Pathfinders are expected to live by.

Pathfinder Law

Keep the Morning Watch
Do my honest part
Care for my body
Keep a level eye
Be courteous and obedient
Walk softly in the sanctuary
Keep a song in my heart
Go on God's errands

Pathfinder Pledge

By the grace of God,
I will be pure, kind, and true
I will keep the Pathfinder law
I will be a servant of God
and a friend to man

Pathfinder Song

Oh we are the Pathfinders Strong
The servants of God are we
Faithful as we march along
In truth and purity
A message to tell to the world
A truth that will set us free
King Jesus the savior is coming back
For you, and me
